Indianapolis PFLAG
Dianna Roark was an avid PFLAG supporter and an incredibly proud mom of her gay son. Dianna sought out PFLAG to help her cope when her son came out to her at the age of 20. While she knew she'd find a way to support him, Dianna struggled with her social, religious, and personal understanding of what it meant to be gay and what it would be like to have a gay child. It was through the support of the other incredible families and individuals that she met through PFLAG that she began to build her immense reserve of unconditional love, understanding, pride, and dedication to gay rights.
Dianna's life was cut short by an 8 year long battle with cancer but she left her last wishes for grace and support of all gay and transgender people in her self written eulogy. She was a role model, a supporter, an activist, a friend, and a mother. Her grace and legacy lives on in all those whose lives she touched. We are honored to name this scholarship after such an incredible woman!
